The words of Moses repeatedly call the people of the tribes of Israel to remember. To remember where they came from. Remember who they are. Remember who they serve. Remember their calling to priesthood. Remember to Love.

Remember the signs and wonders

Has any god ever attempted to take a nation from the midst of another nation for himself? Remember the signs and wonders you have experienced as your God rescued you and called you into a new narrative. Remind your children lest they forget there is only one God.

(Deut. 4:34, 4:39, 6:22, 7:19, 26:8, 29:3, 34:11)

Remember the fatherless, the widow, and the sojourner

Our God executes justice for the fatherless, the widow and loves the sojourner. Provide for the Levites who minister to you but at the same time provide to the less fortunate (14:29). Remember you all were in need at some point. Love your neighbor as yourself.

(Deut. 10:18-19, 14:21, 14:29, 16:14, 24:14-21, 26:11-13, 27:19, 31:12)

Remember with all your heart and with all your soul

Remember that with your very being, heart and soul, you are to serve, seek, love, and care and keep these ways. You will walk in all His ways and you will teach your children in all these ways. Love and serve the ways of the one true God.

(Deut. 4:9, 4:29, 6:5, 10:12, 11:13, 11:18, 13:3, 30:2, 30:6, 30:10)

But a warning should you stray from this path, awaiting you will be restlessness, a trembling heart, and languishing soul.

(Deut 28:65)

Hear these words

Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.
Love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
and with all your might.
And love your neighbor as yourself.
