Last winter I read through the bible in about 90 days, I was on a mission. I plan to do it again with a new reading plan I created.

Reading the Bible in its entirety in a set period of time, a single season, can be a rewarding and meaningful experience for many people. It can help you to get a better understanding of the overall message of the Bible, as well as gain a deeper appreciation for the individual stories and teachings contained within it.

To track my progress I had a checklist of every book and chapter printed and taped into the back of my Bible.

There are many different reading plans available that can help you to structure your Bible reading and keep you on track. Some plans focus on reading through the entire Bible in a set period of time, while others may focus on specific themes or topics.

I have tried several reading plans in prior years. Perhaps the most interesting was Professor Horner's Reading Plan that had you reading 10 chapters a day from 10 different books in the Bible. I might go back to this in the future. I mean I did print and laminate the plan bookmarks.

The sheet that I used last year with success, created by Matthew Everhard, inspired me to create my own version this year that will follow a customized reading order that I have put together.

Simply print it out and tape into the back of your Bible.

Getting Through Every Chapter

I have never stuck with a plan that takes the full 365 days to complete. It is too slow for me. I was finally successfully when I set a goal to finish quickly.  Read every chapter as quick as possible.

Reading Faster

Often when I read the Bible I get stuck looking at references or trying to decipher meaning. This is not always the most helpful when trying to get through many chapters in a day.

So my setup to read more chapters:

  • Your Bible open at a table.
  • the Bible app open on my device of choice
  • Hopefully your translation has audio.
  • NIV, ESV, ASV, MSG, KJV, NLT are a few
  • Click the audio icon, set the reading speed to 1.75x
  • Find your current chapter and click play
  •  Read along in your Bible and try to keep up.
  • Pause when you want to take notes or highlight something for review later.

Listening to the audio while reading has helped me read much faster, not trying to decipher every verse but rather seeing the story unfold and the repetition and themes play out.

We Can Do This Together

Starting the first week of January 2023 I will start this reading plan by reading Luke and Acts. I plan to read about 12 chapters a day 4 to 6 days a week. Maybe more, maybe less.

Each week I plan to write a post that highlights something I want to remember and build into my knowledge of the story.

  1. Sign up for the newsletter to get notified of posts.
  2. Print out the reading plan
  3. Then join me in the narrative
