Starting 4 Sundays before Christmas churches and people begin to prepare for the celebration of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth and anticipation of the future return of Jesus Christ. Some of us just decorate trees, listen to music, and buy each other gifts.
Rituals, remembrances, and celebrations are clearly part of God's design. There are chapters in Leviticus and elsewhere in the ancient Biblical texts devoted to such events. God wants us to remember his glory and holiness and to celebrate his provisions and creation.
As we are decorating the Christmas tree and listening to great Christmas music let's find ways to meditate or pray in celebration and anticipation for what has occurred and what is yet to come.
Start with Jesus and who he said he was.
Have Faith, join the narrative.
Live in the kingdom of shalom.
Be transformed by the Spirit and the text.
